I'm planning a new home security system and am overwhelmed by the number of choices that there are. I'm looking for a system with the following parameters (in no particular order):
- Easily expandable/upgradable (in terms of camera quality and quantity)
- PoE (for ease of installation, weatherproofing holes that I'll drill, etc.)
- Start with 2 cameras, probably no more than 7, but...?
In looking at the camera compatibility chart
, the NVR-8000 seems to support a wide range of cameras, but can you install a 3MP on one channel with a 4K camera on another? Is 5MP enough? I'm not looking to read the label off of somebody's jeans, but it'd be good to be able to see who's hanging around the property.
What type of setup does everybody out there have? Are you satisfied with it? Is there anything you wish you knew before making the initial purchase?
